It’s time for this seasons’ windsurfing seminar

A great opportunity for all of you who have never tried windsurfing before to get off to a good start and those of you who have started already to come along with your questions!
Windsurfing is a sport that combines sailing and surfing and it’s an exhilarating experience. What is special about windsurfing is that the rider controls both the power of the sail as well as the direction of the board. It is a technical sport where motor skills such as coordination, reaction time, agility and balance are important.

We shall start with the windsurfing simulator on land and cover windsurfing 101: I will go through the basic concepts of how the board works together with the sail, orientation and basic tacks on the water, how we place the equipment in relation to the wind, how we get up on the board and balance ourselves, how we get going, how we turn 180 degrees to return back to where we launched from. I shall then progress to steering into the wind, how to perform the slow tack, steering away from the wind, how to perform the fast tack and how to do the jibe. I will explain the use of the harness, talk about the use of the footstraps, how to go upwind with no daggerboard, how we can get planing and of course the waterstart. I will also talk about safety rules and regulations on the water, weather conditions suitable for windsurfing as well as equipment for beginner, intermediate and advanced windsurfers.

The structure of training on the water during the seminar will depend on participants’ level.
The group will predominantly consist of sailors with little or no prior experience with windsurfing. If you are an intermediate / advanced windsurfer interested to participate, please let me know, as there will also be a group where we will practice the techniques of waterstart, planing and the carve gybe on the water.
